YEAR 2017 TREE PLANTING DAY: BASORUN, AGUDA, ADEWUMI-OKEOWO, OTHERS, JOINED AMBODE TO CELEBRATE. | Shakiru Seidu. Igbe and Bola Ahmed Tinubu Roads Igbogbo got approval at the last Exco meeting. -Oba Kasali

As part of Lagos State Government programme to create a healthy environment for all, this necessitate Tree Planting. This year's edition was celebrated across the 20 Local Governments and 37 LCDAs on Friday, 14th of July, 2017.

In Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, the opening prayer of this special occasion was given by the CDC Chairman, Elder Olowu. The recitation of the National Anthem was made while the introduction of guests to occupy the high table was immediately done officially by the anchor.

Honourable Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Dr. Samuel Adejare was represented by Mrs. Caroline Alade Komo, she emphasized the determination of Lagos State Government in partnering with private sectors and NGOS.

Mrs. Olorunshola Olajumoke did justice to enunciating the Tree Planting procedures and techniques as she carefully itemized the procedure and outlined various precautions that should be taken while planting trees.

Some of the basic things for consideration are site evaluation, plant selection, site preparation, planting hole preparation, mulching and lots more.

However, there was a short presentation by the LG Primary School, Baiyeku to entertain and educate the guests.

Furthermore, the keynote address by Governor's representatives, Honourable Olatunji Shoyinka  who was unavoidably absent due to communication barrier. He was however represented by the Sole Administrator of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Chief Mrs Bolanle Basorun.

The Governor emphasized the importance of this year's Tree Planting exercise and how paramount it is to his Administration owing that it is an agenda on sustainable Environment and healthy living. However the Governor tagged the year's campaign as 'Think Green, Plant Trees, Live Green? Moreover, the Governor reiterated that indiscriminate felling of Trees in Lagos State is a violation of existing rules and regulations.

Sensitization/Distribution of waste bag was anchored by Chief Mrs Bolanle Basorun who spoke on proper hygienic condition and the necessity of keeping the environment clean.

High Chief Tajudeen Onasanya, the Odofin of Igbogbo who was representing the Kabiyesi of Igbogbo Land, HRM Oba Abdulsemiu Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo. According to Odofin, he appealed passionately for people to use their votes in the coming election to thank Governor Ambode administration.

He emphatically affirmed that the over 32 billion naira for the commencement of Igbe and Bola Ahmed Tinubu road construction has been approved and the road will link to Ijede road. This he said was made known at the Excos meeting held on Wednesday 12th of July, 2017.

Odofin therefore urged the residents of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA not to waste their votes but to vote massively for APC government. He also intimated everyone that Government is working assiduously to make the Badoo insurgence a thing of the past in Ikorodu Division.

However, he appealed for calmness and implored the people to desist from all forms of jungle justice but to ensure the handing over of any suspected criminal to the appropriate quarters.

In rounding off the programme, the H.O.A. Alhaja Ibidapo Folashade Usman appreciated everyone for gracing the occasion before the Planting session commenced to rap up the exercise.

Among the guests that present at the event include HRM Oba Abdulsemiu Orimadegun Kasali, who was ably represented by High Chief Tajudeen Alade Onasanya, HRM Oba Richard Ogunsanya, who was also represented by the Aro of Ibeshe, Baale of Baiyeku, Cheif Saheed Ajibode, Adeboruwa-in-Council, Leadership of Market Association, CDC, APC members, Staff and pupils of LG Primary School, Baiyeku.

Also in attendance were Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, Chief Adenrele Olowu, Alhaji Sefiu Ogunyemi, Prince Jimoh Ogunmuyiwa, management staff of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, among others.
