When the news of the Lake Rice came into the lime light courtesy of Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode, all and sundry were elated because the Governor aimed at alleviating the untold hardship the harsh economy has meted on Lagosians.
It is so sad and very appalling that this gesture of our action Governor has been hijacked by some shrewd, mean and callous traders who have succeeded in selling 50kg bag of rice for #18,800 at Sabo Market in Ikorodu precisely. This was confirmed by the Publisher, Igbogbo/Bayeku Info Magazine on Tuesday, 14th of February, 2017.
This is evil, oppressive and ridiculous because the action has just scuttled the aim of the two states partnering together in order to cushion the effect of the biting recession.
The concerned parties in charge of the distribution of the Rice are hereby challenged to fault this claim.
Urgent action needs to be taken to avert further extortion and illegitimate profiteering of some corrupt traders who are only interested in quick profit while they oppress the poor masses.
