AMBODE COMMISSIONED THE FIRST PHASE OF IPAKODO/IGBOGBO ROAD | Shakiru Seidu "Commence the second phase in earnest" Oba Kasali, Basorun, Kaoli, others, urged the Governor

Tuesday, 2nd of May, 2017, was no doubt a remarkable day for the residents of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA when the executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode commissioned Ipakodo/Igbogbo road.

Ipakodo/Igbogbo road which is 3.05km long and 6.0m wide is a vital access road  that starts from Ibeshe roundabout to Adeboruwa road junction, Otugbuwa, Igbogbo. Thus connect many communities and Igbogbo town.

The rehabilitation of this road was proposed in 2 phases. The phase 1 of the project started from Ibeshe road junction to Igbogbo Cemetery.

At the official commissioning, the representative of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Rotimi Thomas was the first to give the welcome address. In his speech, he established the fact that Governor Ambode is ready to fulfill all his campaign promises.

The CDC Chairperson, Ikorodu West and the CDC Vice Chairman, Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA applauded Governor Ambode for his good passion for Ikorodu Division. They therefore urged the governor to complete the second phase of the road.

The Iyaloja of Ikorodu West LCDA, Alhaja Monsurat appealed to Gov. Ambode to consider the Olojas in Ikorodu Division and give them space to transact their trading. She further urged the people of Ikorodu Division to pay their tax regularly.

The Sole Administrator, Ikorodu West, Hon. Segun Anifowose, and the Sole Administrator, Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, Chief Mrs Bolanle Basorun thanked Gov. Ambode and commended him for his laudable projects in Ikorodu Division. Both were therefore urged the Governor to commence the second phase.

Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, Asipa Kaoli Olusanya and the MD, Arab Contractors, Mr Salah Radwan, did not say anything in contrary, they appreciated the good work of Governor Ambode and appealed to him to commence the phase 2 of the road as promised.

However, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode who was ably represented by the Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, Prince Rotimi Ogunleye expressed his enthusiasm and love to the people of Ikorodu Division. He assured the people of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA that the Phase 2 of the road will not be left undone. He promised that Igbe road, Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way to Ginti would be dualised.

He further demanded for the support of Ikorodu Division as different projects had being on ground for the development of the Division. Some of which were Industrial Park, Theatre, Shopping Mall, Divisional Stadium, among others.

His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdulsemiu Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo thanked Governor Ambode and his cabinet members for their wonderful performance in moving Lagos State forward.

He assured the Governor that the people of Ikorodu Division is ready to cooperate and protect any government projects within their domain. He however urged the governor to please commence the Phase 2 of the road in earnest.

The Sole Administrator, Ijede LCDA, Hon. Emmanuel Aguda gave vote of thanks before the official commissioning of the road by Prince Rotimi Ogunleye on behalf of Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode.

Among the dignitaries that witnessed the commissioning were HRM Oba Abdulsemiu Orimadegun Kasali and his Palace Chiefs, Prince Rotimi Ogunleye, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, Asipa Kaoli Olusanya, Chief Adenrele Olowu, Alhaji S.O. Amusa, Alhaji Badru Enifeni, Regent of Ipakodo and Odofin of Ipakodo.

Also in attendance were Hon. SOB Agunbiade, Hon Nurudeen Sholaja-Saka, Engr. Rotimi Thomas, Mr Salah Radwan, Chief Mrs Bolanle Basorun, Hon Segun Anifowose, Hon Emmanuel Aguda, Hon Femi Okedeyi, Alhaja Sukurat Okeowo and Hon Gbolahan Ogunleye.

Others were CDAs, APC members, Traders, Artisans, Religious Groups, among others.
