5th of May, 2017, was a day that the people of Ebute\Ipakodo in Ikorodu Division will not forget in a hurry. The day when His Excellency, the executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode commissioned the Drummer statue in the said Community.
The Permanent Secretary, Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr. Ashiru Adewale welcome the guests to the historic event. In his welcome address, he reiterated that Governor Ambode is working assiduously to make Lagos State a hub for tourist attraction.
Mr Ogakwu Chinedu who designed the Statue thanked Governor Ambode and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture for the opportunity given to him. He however explained the attached value to the Statue.
The Olisa and Regent of Ipakodo, Chief Abdulrasheed Olatunde Shitta and the Sole Administrator, Ikorodu West, Hon Segun Anifowose applauded the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode for his various developmental plans for Ikorodu Division.
Mrs Bolanle Austin Peters, the CEO, Tera Culture company in the same vein appreciated Governor Ambode for his contribution to the Arts and Tourism in Lagos State.
However, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode who was ably represented by the Ag. Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Hon Mrs Adebimpe Akinsola, thanked the people of Ikorodu Division for their roles in moving Lagos State forward. He established that the Drummer Statue is to enhance the social cultural attitude and warned against any vandalisation.
Mrs Mosunmola Johnson, the Director of monument management gave the vote of thanks before the official unveiling of the Drummer Statue.
Hon. Adebimpe Akinsola, on behalf of Governor Ambode unveiled the Drummer Statue in the presence of the Community leaders and top government functionaries.
Among those that present are Director, Admin and Human Resources, Mrs Olunloyo, Director, Creative Arts, Mr Annan, Director, Tourism Research and development, Mrs Yetunde Simpson, Director, Tourism promotion, Mrs Adama Oni, Mrs Kudirat Olukoga, Chairperson, CDC Ikorodu West, Mrs Dalemo, HOA Ikorodu West, Dr. Mrs Adefowokan and the Sole Administrators, Ikorodu West and North, Hon Anifowose and Hon Mrs Okeowo, among others.
