It is no longer news that the precarious situation in which Ikorodu Division got ducked into in the last few years, the security of lives and properties was totally worrisome due to the manner in which innocent citizens were being brutally murdered, cult rivalry, kidnapping and unabated crimes of all sorts permeated the one's peaceful community.
However, for the first time in the history of Ikorodu Division, the Ayangburen of Ikorodu and other Royal fathers from Ikorodu division convened the stake holders and the concerned citizens to sue for peace through dialogue with aggrieved fraternities in the division so as to quench the rage of violence and gruesome killings in Ikorodu division.
On Thursday, 15th of June, 2017, the Palace of HRM Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangburen of Ikorodu Kingdom played host to the repentant youths who willingly vowed to renounce Cultism and embrace peace so as to jointly synergize to end problems bothering on security of lives and properly and to ultimately unmask the dreaded cult group named BADOO in Ikorodu division.
The event was declared opened by Imam Uzman Olaniyan, the Chief Imam of Oloro Mosque, Ikorodu. Thereafter, Otunba Ayodele Elesho was so elated in his welcome address.
He said it was a significant day in the history of Ikorodu Division as a whole to have gathered rivalry Cult Groups in Ikorodu for a peaceful dialogue and granting of amnesty so as to reunite the nomenclature of the division. He did not hesitate to itemize the requirements for granting amnesty to as to any cult group which is ready to renounce the group. He urged them to surrender their ammunitions as the first step to embrace dialogue; hence, he appealed for calmness among the Cult groups.
Obviously, from all indications, the determination to end every crisis in the Division made the stakeholders and the speakers to hit the nail on the head. Asipa Kaoli Olusanya equally sued for peace. He ascribed the entrance of the dreaded group called BADOO to the lingering crisis among the youth.
He affirmed that once the repentant youths have been able to surrender their weapons, rehabilitation and empowerment programmes will commence immediately. This was equally reiterated by Chief Kamar Oshikabala (Bombata).
Moreover, Mr Olanrewaju Olabinjo, an Onyabo head appreciated the courage of the youth to sheath their swords for a rebirth of Ikorodu Division. He solicited for
more prayers for the repentant youths and assured all that various committees for capacity building will be constituted in order to combat crime in Ikorodu Division. He was so certain that the development is the beginning to the end of the BADOO cult group in Ikorodu Division.
Furthermore, he promised that the 30 man committee across Ikorodu division will work assiduously round the clock to ensure peaceful co-existence among all and also affirmed that all the cultist who have decided to embrace peace after surrendering their weapons will swear to an oath at the Palace of Ayangburen of Ikorodu.
Mr Lanre further implored all politicians to employ all the arsenal within their armoury to provide job for the people, owing high rate of crime to unemployment. He said that the security operatives will equally be empowered in case of any future insurgence.
Abdulazeez Sholebo from Eiye fraternity boldly affirmed that they were tired of fracas and fighting of all sorts. He said their rivalry created the loopholes for the entrance of BADOO into the community. Sholebo equally blamed the government for their menace because very many of them are graduates but jobless and of course an idle mind they say is the devil's workshop. He promised that the BADOO group will be apprehended and equally pleaded for the release of some of their colleagues in the Police cell.
However, Akinyemi Gold Lanre of Buccaneers Fraternity emphatically accused the Ajagungbales (land grabbers) for the spate of crime in the division because they were their recruits to do their dirty jobs.
Comrade Saheed Eegbodoku from Yellow Colour and Seyi Ajasa from Aiye fraternity equally shared same point with other groups and vowed to stop killing because they want to live normal lives.
After all these accounts and testaments, the Chief Imam of Ikorodu, Sheik Olowooribi in his sermon advised the youths that they are the future of the community and the nation at large; he was so certain that there is hope for them and the Chief Imam Oriwu Central Mosque, Ikorodu, Sheik Osoala, prayed for the forgiveness of God upon all of them.
Furthermore, Area Commander, Area N, Ijede, Mr Garba who was ably represented by CSP Edegbayi Olanrewaju, DPO Sagamu road Ikorodu in his speech candidly requested for the profile of all the youths who have renounce cultism, assuring them of the adequate support of the government and enjoined all to work in alliance with the Police.
After all said and done, the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, HRM Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi couldn't conceal his happiness as he anticipated positive results. Kabiyesi therefore enjoined the repentant youths to be genuine in their decision, action and in character.
He thanked the security operatives for their determination to abate crime in the Division. Oba Shotobi further appealed for total cooperation and unity of purpose among all to enable us apprehend the BADOO Group so that fresh air of peace and tranquility can blow in Ikorodu again. He totally condemned any form of jungle justice; it is barbaric and uncivilized. He sued for calmness at every nook and cranny.
Without much ado, immediately after the closing prayer was said, the songs of the war is over, "The storm is Over" rented their air as the youth were in the spirit of jubilation and rally round the neighboring communities.
Among those that witnessed the occasion were His Royal Majesties, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangburen of Ikorodu Kingdom, Oba Dr. Akeem Oriyomi, Obateru of Egbin Royal Kingdom, Oba Richard Ogunsanya, Olubeshe of Ibeshe, Regents of Ijede and Ipakodo, reputable Chiefs from Igbogbo led by Chief Jelili Oduntan, the Balogun of Igbogbo kingdom, Otunba Ayodele Elesho, Asipa Kaoli Olusanya, Chief Monzor Olowosago, Chief Ogidi, Muslim leaders in Ikorodu, members of COLID led by Comrade Kehinde Okeowo, IKODAS, members of Nigeria Army, 174 Battalions led by the Commander Eze, DSS, Nigeria Police and different Cult Groups.
