RESIDENTS OF IKORODU DIVISION STRUGGLED FOR MADE IN NIGERIA RICE

It is obvious that the recession in the land really justified the song of the late Afro Beat Legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti which says, "Suffering and Smiling". This played itself out at a large Crowd of people trooped out to purchase bags of LAKE RICE which the Lagos State government promised that will be sold at cheap prices.

Unfortunately, the hope of the people was mutilated as the location to purchase the bag of LAKE RICE was completely out of the reach of the people. This inconveniency forced the Publisher, Igbogbo/Bayeku Info Magazine, Mr Shakiru Seidu, to wade into the scenario that played out today, Friday, 23rd of December, 2016

Ikorodu division, comprises of Ikorodu LG, Ikorodu West LCDA, Ikorodu North LCDA, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Imota LCDA and Ijede LCDA. It is quite appalling for the government to have decided to locate the depot of the LAKE RICE at Odogunyan, which is 1kilometer to Ita-Oluwo, Ogun State, this of course jeopardized the hope of the people in getting the rice despite the fact that they have their money readily available.

Why should people be forced to encounter such untold hardship and inconveniences why trying to hold their government by her word. The stress and the depression, couple with the disappointment they met at the depot had resulted in fighting of all sort, and the gesture has turned to the survival of the fittest. In my own opinion, this is ridiculous, inhumane and uncharitable on the side of the government.

However, the Lagos State government as a matter of urgency should decentralized the depot in Odogunyan Ikorodu, to enable people from far distance, like Imota, Ijede, Igbogbo, Ibeshe, Owutu, etc have access to the scheme. I am sure Gov Akinwunmi Ambode will not be delighted about the recent development in Ikorodu division, which was meant to be a credit to his administration, I don't want to assume that the people in charge are anticipating compromise in order to satisfy their loved ones at the detriment of those that have been praying earnestly to benefit from the scheme. The LCDAs should take over the responsibility, because the situation at Odogunyan Ikorodu is that people from Ogun State are more benefiting.
I hope my Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, will act promptly on this matter.
