The former Secretary, Lagos State Government and member, Governor's Advisory Committee, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, has cleared the coast on the rumour that is being peddled by some idle Prattlers that Igbogbo Sports Stadium had been substituted for another Stadium inside Laspotech premises, Ikorodu.
This was made known to Igbogbo/Bayeku Info Magazine during its courtesy visit to the abode of the icon. The Elder Statesman reiterated their youthful strength and energy exhibited to achieve the Stadium goal.
The Igbogbo Sports Stadium situated along Bola Ahmed Tinubu way in Igbogbo, was created by the Community in 1983 and was however formally taken over by the Lagos State government in 2008 during the administration of Gov. Babatunde Fashola, through the then Commissioner for youth and Sports, Prince Demola Adele and the Director of Sports, Mr. Adewunmi Ogunsanya, which of course necessitated the government to bear the responsibility of fencing and rehabilitating the Stadium with nothing less than 25 million naira.
Although, the Stadium had privilege in the 2016 budget to put the Stadium into an Ultra Modern edifice that will meet the international standard, unfortunately, the enormous responsibilities of the State government couldn't accommodate it, as such, the move was truncated. However, our progressive Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode has included it in the 2017 budget for necessary attention.
According to Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, he mused that the commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Honourable Osamad Akinbile, confirmed to him that Igbogbo Sports Stadium was not substituted for any other Stadium. Furthermore, both Igbogbo Sports Stadium and the one situated within Laspotech premises will be attended to.
Basorun, did not hesitate to appreciate Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode for the favour that Ikorodu Division received in the 2017 budget. He also assured the residents of Igbogbo community that apart from Bola Ahmed Tinubu way and Igbe road which promised to be done in 2017, by Lagos State Government, Igbogbo/Ipakodo road will equally be completed.
