Friday 3rd of March, 2017, was a day that will not be easily forgotten by the people of Igbogbo Kingdom when Hon. SOB Agunbiade visited HRM Oba Abdulsemiu Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Land in his Palace.
After he paid much respect for the King and the ancestors, he didn't hesitate to unveil the purpose of his visit which was bothered on the disunity within Ikorodu Division, neglect of our beautiful cultural heritage and the philosophy that binds Ikorodu together. The articulate legislator was so philosophical in his speech as he emphasized the first letter of major communities in Ikorodu division (Igbogbo, Imota, Ijede, Ikorodu, Ibeshe, Isiu, Ipakodo, etc). This he said should be enough unifying factor for the whole Ikorodu Division.
Moreover, he sued for the reawakening of our cultural heritage and should not be mistaken with religion at all. He promised to erect a statue at a strategic point which will harmonize the whole Ikorodu Division to enhance growth and development. He acquainted the king with a project work he shall soon embark upon for the good people of Ikorodu Division as he solicited for unity and peace among the people. The project work is tagged, 'IKORODU DIVISION REBIRTH FOUNDATION', a unifying factor for all.
Furthermore, he reiterated on the cultural heritage of Ikorodu which has been silenced, should as a matter of urgency be brought back to the lime light,. He sighted an example of one of our cultural heritage that we have neglected and was highly cherished while he was in Dublin in 2013.
In the same vein, Chief Jelili Oduntan, the Balogun of Igbogbo appealed to Hon SOB Agunbiade not to dissociate himself from Igbogbo having originated from Offin-Ile, Balogun drew a clear distinction between religion and culture. He solicited for his support to endeavour to involve Igbogbo in the decision makings simply because Igbogbo has always been treated unfairly as if it isn't part of Ikorodu division, not forgetting to sight the improper used of Oga Statute as symbol of Ikorodu division. Chief Balogun of Igbogbo equally anticipated for more Kings in Ikorodu division just to take a cue from Local Government such as Badagry, Epe and the likes of.
Hon SOB Agunbiade reacted to the observation of Chief Oduntan that work is in progress to increase the number of the Obas in Ikorodu division to complement the existing ones. However, in the area of cultism, he promised to used everything within his arsenal to stem it because what people termed as cultism in Ikorodu division is just a mere misinformed, they are idle elements who were fermenting troubles. Hence, Hon SOB Agunbiade implored the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo and all other Royal fathers in Ikorodu division to ensure sanity and sanctity to curb the incessant threat of the land grabbers popularly called Ajagungbale, because their actions are scaring investors away from developing the community. On his final remarks, Hon SOB Agunbiade promised to use every available means to fight for the rights of Ikorodu Division at the Lagos State House of Assembly.
HRM Oba Abdulsemiu Orimadegun Kasali, Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Land appreciated Hon SOB Agunbiade's team for its visit. He appealed to him to ensure that the youth empowerment scheme of his programme should be extended to Igbogbo community. He therefore prayed for him and his team for successful future endeavors.
