The Chairman House Committee on Defence, representing Ikorodu federal Constituency at the Green Chamber Abuja, Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, has commissioned a brand new facilitated modern Smart Divisional Police Station in Elepe, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA of Lagos State, to strengthen internal security and safeguard lives and property within the area. The new modern Smart Divisional Police Station was constructed by the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF), handed over to the Nigeria Police.
Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, while addressing the gathering, said the occasion marks a major milestone in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's efforts to strengthen internal security and safeguard lives and property across the country, adding that the completion of the Station is a clear testament to the Federal Govt’s unwavering commitment, to promoting safer communities and enhancing Police operations.
Benson recalled that for many years, the rapidly growing Elepe and Igbe Communities, Igbogbo, has felt the pressing need for a befitting and functional Police facility, and the modern facility not only provides a professional and conducive workspace for officers, but also serves as a symbol of progress, peace, and partnership between the Police and the people.
"The Nigerian Police Trust Fund continues to be instrumental in transforming the operational landscape of the Nigeria Police Force by bridging critical resource gaps. The successful completion of this project here in Elepe Community highlights their resolve and strategic vision in providing infrastructure that supports effective policing. I commend the Board and Management of the Trust Fund for their dedication and service," Benson stated.
He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s dedication to strengthening the capacity of the Nigeria Police Force and prioritizing internal security in line with Mr. President’s Renewed Hope Agenda. "This police Station is a clear demonstration of our resolve to ensure a safer, more secure Nigeria," the Lawmaker stressed.
Benson charged the officers and personnel to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and community engagement. "Let this Station be known for prompt response, fairness, and respect for human rights. You are the face of justice and security in this community," he advised.
“To the residents of Elepe Community and neighboring communities: this facility belongs to you. I urge you to embrace it, protect it, and collaborate with the officers stationed here. Effective policing thrives on mutual trust and active community participation. Your cooperation is not just welcome but it is essential. I'll try and lobby Mr President to facilitate a brand new Hilux Bus for the Station in 2026 and also ensure that the Police Station has a good access road to ease their operations" the erudite Lawmaker added.
In his address, the Executive Secretary, Nigeria Police Trust Fund, Mr. Mohammed Sheidu thanked Rep. Babajimi Benson for being care and consistent. He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR for his steadfastness, dedication to the security sector, reforms, institutions strengthening, and his unwavering support to the Nigeria Police Trust Fund that made impactful interventions like the modern Police Station.
"This facility, consisting of a modern Police Station, perimeter fencing, sedentary CCTV surveillance, overhead water tanks for uninterrupted water supply, and a solar power system, stands as a mission and statement of nation-building," he revealed.
Earlier, the Executive Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Omo'ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, through Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson MHR, for answering to the yearning of the people of Elepe. "Today’s commissioning of the Smart Police Station, Divisional Headquarters, Elepe, Igbogbo, represents a major milestone in the ongoing effort to strengthen the security architecture of Elepe, Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, and the wider Ikorodu axis.
"This modern facility stands as clear evidence of the Federal Govt’s renewed commitment, under the leadership of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, to enhancing internal security, upgrading policing infrastructure, and improving the welfare, capacity, and operational effectiveness of officers of the Nigeria Police Force.
"I extend my sincere appreciation to the Honourable Member representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, whose purposeful facilitation of this project through the Nigeria Police Trust Fund has translated national vision into tangible grassroots impact," Aroyewun narrated.
He further extended his gratitude to the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force and its partner institutions, particularly, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, Inspector-General of Police; Mohammed Femi Sheidu, Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund; CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State; as well as all Divisional Police Officers and senior officers present, for their steadfast commitment to professional policing and community safety.
"I deeply acknowledge the Elepe Royal Family, and most especially the late Oba Abdulganiu Omotayo Adekoyejo, whose gracious donation of land made this landmark project possible," Aroyewun said.
In his royal remarks, His Royal Majesty, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, thanked Rep. Babajimi Benson, on this facilitation, adding that his contribution has no doubt enhanced the growth and development of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA and Ikorodu Division at large.
The Monarch urged the community to cooperate with the system to ensure peace and orderliness in Elepe Community and beyond.
